The core of the Lodge emerged from the Square Wheels Classic Car Club — formerly the Masonic Classic Vehicle Club — relaunched after the success of the national Classic 300 runs supporting the 2017 Tercentenary celebrations.
The Club relocated to Warwick, and the Lodge followed: Alderson House, High Street, Warwick, close to the historic centre of the British car industry.
The Founders believe the Lodge will serve Square Wheels Club members and act as a recruitment catalyst for classic-vehicle enthusiasts who are not yet Freemasons. The UK classic vehicle industry employs about 34,900 people and is worth around £5.5 billion. The Lodge is open to enthusiasts, owners, and any other suitable applicant. It is not a closed Lodge.
There are 75 Founding Members, drawn mainly from the Club, plus a much larger constituency of Freemasons who already enjoy the hobby. Shows, social runs and exhibitions have drawn real interest from both sides of that line.
The aim is to nurture a real understanding of Freemasonry, help new Brethren settle into Lodge life, and foster relations with other special-interest Lodges — all on a shared enthusiasm for the cars.
